So your child sees themselves, from the first page to the last

You want your child to open the book and think: that's me. Not just a child with the same name, but really the main character, from the first page to the last.

That's why your child isn't only the main character of the story, but of the illustrations too. The same face, the same look, recognisable right through the book. Not spot-on once and then a different child on the next page.

And you don't need a photo for it. In the wizard you choose how your child looks, and those choices decide who the main character is. The appearance isn't guessed from the name, and the gender comes from what you tell us too.

Below you can read calmly how your child ends up in the book, and what to expect from the printed book.

How your child ends up in the book

In the wizard you choose how your child looks from a set of pre-drawn faces. Different skin tones, hair colours and hair types, for boys and girls. You click the face that comes closest to your child, and that decides how the main character looks.

What you choose is what counts. The appearance isn't worked out from the name, and the gender of the main character comes from what you tell us, never from the name. That way you stay in charge of who your child is in the book.

A photo isn't needed. A name and your choices are enough to carry your child through the whole book as the same, recognisable main character.

Frequently asked questions

Will my child really see themselves?
Yes, that's the whole idea. Your child is the main character of the story and of the illustrations, with the look you choose, recognisable right through the book. One thing we're honest about: we get the skin tone as close as we can, but we come near without guaranteeing an exact colour down to the shade. There's a technical limit to that.
Do I need a photo of my child?
No, we never ask for a photo. You choose how your child looks in the wizard, and that's what we build the character from. A name and your choices are enough.
Can I choose the skin tone and the hair?
Yes. You choose from a curated set of pre-drawn faces, with different skin tones, hair colours and hair types, for boys and girls. With the skin tone we get as close as we can, though we can't promise an exact colour down to the shade.
Are the illustrations drawn by hand?
No. The illustrations are made with AI, in one warm, consistent style throughout the book. They're checked automatically for unsuitable imagery, and a person looks everything over before anything goes to the printer.
